![]() In Memory of the many ACC claimants who have already tragically COMMITTED SUICIDE. **** Dead people cannot call for help.
You can help to stop more tragic deaths by: As you may know, Acclaim Otago developed a shadow report for the United Nations outlining the issues people disabled by injury face. We believed that the NZ Government needed to be asked questions about these issues in light of the Convention on the Rights of People with Disability. The UN identified the issue "Access to Justice" and has asked the NZ Government to respond to the following question Access to justice (art. 13) 1. Please explain whether New Zealand law provides access to justice for persons with disabilities engaged in the statutory dispute resolution process with regard to adequate funding, procedural fairness and reliable evidentiary procedures under New Zealand’s Accident Compensation scheme. We are raising extra funds required to send two representatives to Geneva to attend the UN 12th session of the CRPD in September when the NZ government will respond to the list of issues identified by the UN. Our shadow report can be found by clicking this link: http://www.acclaimotago.org/un/Report_to_UN.pdf and should you wish to contribute in even the smallest way (minimum is $1) we are using the Telecom Foundation site “Give a Little” . The great thing about this site is that we receive every single dollar donated and you get an immediate receipt. If you believe this to be a good cause we would love it if you could ‘spread the word’ either through your own networks or media contacts. https://www.givealittle.co.nz/cause/UNProject |
